AUDIO
Ethan Setiawan is the lead (and only) engineer at Sassafras Hill Records, a mobile recording facility committed to providing exceptional services to roots music artists. With a deep understanding of both the creative and technical aspects of music production, he brings a unique blend of artistry and technical expertise to his work. Ethan is also a house engineer at the Great North Sound Society in Parsonsfield, Maine.
Ethan's journey in music began as a mandolinist with an interest in recording. He furthered his education in the field by pursuing a minor in Music Technology from Berklee College of Music, where he refined his technical skills and deepened his understanding of the intricacies of audio production. His expertise extends beyond technical proficiency; as one of the premier American mandolinists he possesses a player’s perspective on American roots music and Celtic music. This musical ability uniquely qualifies him to work on traditional music in an engineer’s capacity.
Throughout his career, Ethan has contributed to numerous successful projects, leaving an indelible mark on the roots music scene. His portfolio includes collaborations with Joe K. Walsh, Mile Twelve, Louise Bichan, Carolyn Kendrick, Sadie Gustafson-Zook, and the Rhythm Future Quartet.
